Wayne Garrett was an infielder who had a 10-year MLB career: New York Mets (1969-76), Montreal Expos (1976-78), St. Louis Cardinals (1978). Offered is a Wayne Garrett game used, signed bat. Garrett was mainly a third baseman. He received acclaim for his role on the 1969 Miracle Mets, when he was part of the "Amazing Mets" World Champions. Garrett platooned at third base with Ed Charles for the '69 Mets, and although Garrett batted only .218 that season, he played solid defense and had several key hits in the Mets drive to the team's surprising championship. For his MLB career, Garrett batted .239, with 69 home runs and 340 RBIs. After his Major League playing career, Garrett played two years in Japan for the Chunichi Dragons. The offered bat is a Hillerich & Bradsby Louisville Slugger. The bat has a length of 34.75" and a weight of 30.75 ounces. On the knob is some indecipherable writing in black marker. Also on the knob is a PSA/DNA sticker reading, 1B06626. Etched on the barrel is GENUINE LOUISVILLE SLUGGER/Wayne Garrett. There is a crack in the handle, and the handle shows pine tar residue. Garrett signed and inscribed the bat on the handle. Using a fine tip marker, Garrett wrote, "Always the Best, Wayne Garrett."
