Presented is a 1978 Tom Seaver no-hitter game used signed baseball from June 6, 1978, Tom Terrific's only no-hitter. Seaver, a right-hander, pitched for 20 Major League seasons: New York Mets (1967-77 & '83), Cincinnati Reds (1977-82), Chicago White Sox (1984-86), Boston Red Sox (1986). Seaver had a 311-205 lifetime record, with a 2.86 ERA and 3,640 strikeouts. While with the New York Mets, Seaver came close to a perfect game on July 9, 1969, at Shea Stadium against the Chicago Cubs, but after 25 outs of perfection, Seaver lost his no-hitter and perfect game bid when Jimmy Qualls hit a single to center. In Seaver's only no-hitter, the pitcher was facing the visiting St. Louis Cardinals at Riverfront Stadium. All three of the Cardinals' baserunners got on base through walks. In the second inning, Seaver walked two batters but pitched out of the jam. In the ninth inning, he walked leadoff batter Jerry Mumphrey, but then retired Lou Brock, Garry Templeton, and George Hendricks to achieve the no-hitter. Seaver had 15 outs via ground balls, nine outs through flyouts, and only three strikeouts. The Rawlings Official National League Ball (Feeney) shows great use, with scrapes, abrasions, dirt stains. The ball also exhibits some darkening, caused by the passage of time. Written on a side panel in black marker by an unknown hand, is a big "0" and "6/16/78." On another side panel, Seaver has signed in 7.5/10 blue marker. The offering comes with a certificate from the Reds 580 Gift Shop. Only twelve baseballs from the game were made available to collectors, so this is 1 of only 12 to be documented by the Reds. Comes with PSA LOA.
