Presented is a unique collectible - the November 5, 1934, multi-signed cover of a wine list from "The New Grand" restaurant in Tokyo, Japan, including Babe Ruth. This was signed during a tour of Japan by American League All-Stars. The Americans played an All-Star team of Japanese players, an aggregation that later formed an All-Star team that eventually became Japan's first professional team, the Yomiuri (Tokyo) Giants. The Americans won all 18 games of the tour and Ruth hit 13 home runs. The American team included: Connie Mack (manager), Babe Ruth, Jimmie Foxx, Lou Gehrig, Lefty Grove, Charlie Gehringer, Earl Averill, Bing Miller, Moe Berg, Earl Whitehill, Frankie Hayes, Rabbit McNair, Hal Warstler, Joe Cascarella, Clint Brown, Lefty O'Doul (coach), and John Quinn (umpire). Catcher Moe Berg is reputed to have taken films of Japanese ports and industrial installations as one of his first duties as a United States spy. The wine list cover is made of heavy card stock, and it measures 8.5x12.5". At the top of the wine list cover is hand printed, "Nov 5, 1934/Tokyo" in black ink from an unknown hand. The wine list contains six signatures: Babe Ruth, Julia Ruth (Babe's stepdaughter), Lefty "Bunny" Gomez, June Odea Gomez (Lefty's wife), Earl White Hill, Violet Whitehill (Earl's wife). In addition, under his signature, Babe Ruth inscribed "Love Fodder." The signatures and Babe Ruth's inscription were written in black ink from a fountain pen. The wine list comes with a JSA LOA for the aforementioned six signatures as well as Ruth's inscription. The menu cover has some toning near the edges, a few very small stains, a few very small, frayed, or partially indented edges, and some partial folds in some corners. Despite these minor imperfections, the wine list cover is in very good condition.
