Displayed is a beautiful ring box for a Championship ring from Super Bowl XXXVI, won by the New England Patriots. Super Bowl XXXVI, between the New England Patriots and the St. Louis Rams, was played on Feb. 3, 2002, for the NFL Championship of the 2001 season. Because of the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, the NFL regular season and playoffs were pushed back a week, and SB XXXVI became the first Super Bowl to be played in February. The halftime show, featuring the Irish band U2, included a tribute to 9/11 victims. New England won, 20-17, on a 48-yard Adam Vinatieri field goal as time expired. The winning field goal was set up by a brilliant downfield drive by Patriots' quarterback Tom Brady in the final 90 seconds of the game. Brady completed 16 of 27 passes for 145 yards, with a touchdown and no interceptions and he was named the game's MVP. The victory marked the first NFL Championship for the franchise and the first of an amazing six Super Bowls that Brady and Patriots head coach Bill Belichick would win together. The laminated box, with an imitation wood finish, measures 5x7", with a height of 2.75". This is not a retail item, as this is the box in which the ring, not included, was presented. The cover of the box reads, NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS SUPER BOWL XXXVI WORLD CHAMPIONS 2001. It has a Jostens sticker on the bottom. The Patriots' logo is also inside the lid. We don't know to whom this was presented. The box weighs 18.25 ounces, and it has great eye appeal. It is an important memento from the very start of the New England Patriots' Super Bowl dynasty, and it is in EX-MT condition.
