Collection of twelve vintage press photos dating from the 1920s
through the 1940s. Each of these photos originates from the 1996
Christies sale of the "Baseball Magazine" archives and has a 1996
Christies hologram label affixed to the reverse. Highlights include a
1932 Associated Press photo of Babe Ruth and his hunting party posing
next to the alligator that Ruth shot in Florida, a Charles Conlon photo
of Sam Jones (New York Yankees) bearing Conlon's handwritten name and
identification on the reverse, and a Paul Thompson (credit stamp) photo
of a New York Yankees player (identified as "Walsh" in pencil on the
reverse, but might be misidentified). Additional photos picture the
Meusel brothers (Bob and Irish; two different photos), Monte Pearson,
George Selkirk, Johnny Pesky, Bill Dickey, and Ernie Lombardi. Nine of
the photos are accompanied by either the full or partial paper news
caption affixed to the reverse. Sizes range from 4.5x6.5" to 11x8", with
all but three measuring approximately 8.5x6.5." Please note: While we
believe many of the photos to be original Type I examples, none have
been evaluated by PSA, so no guarantees are made regarding specific Type
designations.
