Collection of fifteen original glass plate negatives capturing former New York Giants star second baseman Larry Doyle. One of the images pictures Doyle at the plate during batting practice, four picture him posing in street clothes, and the remainder picture him on the sidelines either warming up before a game, or striking a pose. Doyle played with the Giants from 1907 to 1916, and then again from 1918 to 1920. Based upon the uniform styles shown here, these images appear to date from the 1908 to 1912 time period. Doyle was one of the game's top players during that span and the National League MVP in 1912. A five-time .300 hitter, Doyle won the National League batting championship in 1915 with a .320 mark, and he finished his career with a .290 lifetime average. Each negative measures 5x7", with a few having Doyle's name etched along a border. Several of the negatives display either light chipping or emulsion loss along the perimeter, otherwise all are in Excellent condition overall. These negatives originate from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive and are accompanied by their original storage box (marked "C7 Larry Doyle").
