Presented is a game worn, 1997 All-Star Game batting practice jersey of Barry Larkin, a Hall of Fame shortstop who could do it all. "Every night he could beat an opponent with his bat, his speed, his arm. his defense, or his intelligence," said Walt Jocketty, the Cincinnati Reds President of Baseball Operations and General Manager. In his 19-year MLB career, all with the Cincinnati Reds, Larkin was a 12-time All-Star, a 3-time Gold Glove Award winner, a 9-time Silver Slugger recipient, and an important member of the 1990 World Champion Reds. In 1995, Larkin was the National League MVP when he hit .319, won a Gold Glove, hit 15 homers and stole 31 bases. In fact, Larkin was the first shortstop to become a member of the 30-30 Club, when in 1996 he hit 33 homers and stole 36 bases. The front of the jersey displays the white lettering "NATIONAL" and also shows the 1997 All-Star Game logo. On the lower outside front right tail is a "Diamond Collectibles" patch, and "Majestic" manufacturer's patch and 48" for size. The right sleeve has a "Jackie Robinson 50th Anniversary 1947/1997" patch and the Majestic logo, and the left sleeve has the Reds' logo. The back exhibits "LARKIN" in large block white letters and the numeral "11," also in white. The jersey represents an opportune chance to add the All-Star jersey of a Hall of Famer to a collection.
