Scarce "League" baseball bat dating from the late 19th century. The bat, like most from the era, is nearly the same size in diameter from its barrel to the handle and measures 35" in length. The word "League," along with a black star and floral embellishment adorn the center. The bat displays heavy use and wear, including a 16" crack on the side that runs from below the center design to the top of the barrel head. Remnants of a red-painted ring near the top of the barrel can still be seen upon close inspection. Despite the flaws it remains a fine representative example of what was once the bat of choice for many "League" players in the 1890s.
