Exceptional 1888 scorecard issued for a National League game between the New York Giants and Washington Nationals. The cover features a woodcut illustration of Giants star slugger and future Hall of Famer Roger Connor, as well as advertising for Old Judge tobacco cards. The text on the cover reads “Photographs of the New York Team and all the Professional Ball Players Packed in Every Package of Old Judge Cigarettes.” The interior lineups feature Connor, Jim O’Rourke, Buck Ewing, and Mickey Welch for New York, and Connie Mack and Dummy Hoy for Washington. The scorecard is not scored, but a vintage ink notation on the interior reads "Polo Grounds New York July 31st 1888." Research indicates that the clubs did play on that date, with New York winning 6-1. The fold-over scorecard (4.25x7.25”) is in Excellent to Mint condition and represents one of the finest 1888 Old Judge advertising scorecards extant.
