 A collection of two (2) 1890s original cabinet cards of African American boxer Bob Armstrong. Armstrong, who was known as 'The King of the Battle Royal', was active in the last decade of the 19^th century and the first decade of the 20^th. He was the World's Colored Heavyweight Champion from 1896-98. The cards were produced by famed cabinet card maker John Wood in New York City. They are "Ivoryettes" and are marked on front and back. The portrait card is VG-EX condition with a few marks on the image, the action pose card is in EX with some age-appropriate wear. A nice pair of early African American boxing cabinet cards.
