A nice collection of (14) boxing cabinet cards and photographs of James Jeffries, who is truly a giant in the boxing world and was known as "The Boilermaker.” He became the World Heavyweight Champion in 1899 after defeating Bob Fitzsimmons. His title defences before his first retirement in 1905 included ones against Fitzsimmons and another ex-champion, James J Corbett (twice), as well as a contest considered an all-time classic, a 25-round victory over the immensely tough Tom Sharkey. His only defeat came to Jack Johnson in his last fight when Jeffries was coaxed out of retirement and had not fought in several years. Lot includes (7) cabinet cards and (7) photographs. Cabinet Card makers include Ross, Wendt, Stormy, Police Gazette, and Halls Studio. Condition varies and range from PR-VG with most being in the GD to GD-VG range.
