Created by the Chicago Herald, this extremely unique and handsome photo album chronicles the Chicago Cubs spring training on Santa Catalina Island in 1928. Full of professional quality photos (74), the staff of the Chicago Herald painstakingly assembled a number of these leather bound beauties and stamped the future recipient's name on the cover in gold; this example was created for the team's manager and future Hall of Famer Joe McCarthy. The sturdy leather cover presents in EX condition, and is stamped "Cubs Training Camp 1928 - Compliments Of Chicago Herald and Examiner - Joe McCarthy" with only one small 1" tear noticed. Each of the 6.25x8.25" high quality photos are in EX-MT condition overall with many stronger and feature big names including Joe McCarthy, Gabby Hartnett, Kiki Cuyler, Hack Wilson, Woody English, Art Nehf, Charlie Grimm, Riggs Stephenson and the rest. Comes with PSA LOA stating all 74 images are indeed Type I.
