Starting in 1886, Arm & Hammer began issuing some of the most beautiful and colorful nonsport sets ever produced. While their early efforts were mainly ‘Birds of the World’, their popularity brought on an amazing variety of other subjects. These cards were issued in various years thru 1975, with each set being more beautifully composed than the one before. Here we have 24 representative sheets, each displaying from 4 to 7 cards from many of those sets: 1) 1886 J-1 ‘Beautiful Birds of America’, 7 cards from a series of 60; 2) 1888 J-2 ‘Beautiful Birds, New Series’ (6/60); 3) 1904 J-3 ‘Game Bird Series’ (7/30); 4) 1908 J-4 ‘New Series of Birds’ (6/30); 5) 1915 J-5 ‘Useful Birds’, First Series (6/30); 6) 1918 J-6 ‘Useful Birds’, Second Series (6/30); 7) 1922 J-7 ‘Useful Birds’, Third Series (7/30); 8) 1924 J-8 ‘Useful Birds’, Fourth Series (6/30); 9) 1927 J-9(1) ‘Useful Birds’, Fifth Series (6/15); 10) 1929 J-9(2) ‘Useful Birds’, Sixth Series (6/15); 11) 1935 J-9(3) ‘Useful Birds’, Seventh Series (6/15); 12) 1936 J-9(4) ‘Useful Birds’, Eighth Series (6/15); 13) 1938 J-9(5) ‘Useful Birds’, Ninth Series (6/15); 14) 1938 J-9(6) ‘Useful Birds’, Tenth Series (6/15); 15) 1975 ‘Birds of Prey’, (4/10).
