He became involved in organized crime and was convicted of jury tampering, attempted bribery, and fraud and sentenced to 13 years behind bars. He was later released from prison and disappeared in July of 1975, and it was suspected he was murdered. he was declared legally dead in 1982. The mug shot reads, "33298 133 James Hoffa Jan 5 71."
