Historic fight poster, paper backed by more recently added cardboard. For the July 3, 1931, bout. After German Max Schmeling won the World Heavyweight Championship in 1930, this fight against challenger William "Young" Stribling was Schmeling's first title defense. The battle was named Ring Magazine's Fight-of-the-Year. Schmeling won by TKO in round 15 of 15, Stribling's only loss by way of TKO/KO in his career. It was also the first event held in Municipal Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio. Some paper loss, and it appears as if the 12.5x14.4" poster has been taped on verso. Measures 23x34".
