Nine ink autographs grace this 1949-51 ONL (Frick) era baseball with Honus Wagner (who was a Pirates coach at the time) and his daughter Virginia Wagner on the sweet spot, the only occurrence of this pairing which we are aware of. Father and daughter are joined by Hall of Fame slugger Ralph Kiner, six-time twenty-game winner Deacon Philippe who was a scout for the Pirates at the time, Pittsburgh Sun-Telegraph reporters Chilly Doyle and Harry Keck, Albert G. Ploch, plus two others.
The names on the ball suggest that it was signed at some special event (perhaps the 40th anniversary of the 1909 championship season or Wagner’s 75th birthday). The ball has toned but presents well. Honus grades an 8.5/10, Philippe is a 9/10, and Kiner is bold with some skipping. A unique offering which will peak the interest of collectors of both signed baseballs and Pittsburgh Pirates memorabilia. Comes certified by PSA.
