Official announcement to Minoso, then of the Chicago White Sox, that he was selected for the 1954 American League All-Star squad for the game at Cleveland Stadium. Interesting details about the logistics of his appearance, including his travel arrangements, instructions to bring his "home uniform, baseball shoes, bats, and gloves. The missive is on official American League stationery, and is signed by Harridge. Letter also lists the other members of the American League team, i.e. Mickey Mantle, Ted Williams, Larry Doby, Larry (Yogi) Berra, et. al. Minoso holds an unusual record: The only professional baseball player to play in seven decades. After starting his big league career for the Cleveland Indians, Minoso played in the majors until 1964. In publicity stunts, he was brought back briefly to play in the majors in 1976 (at age 50) and again in 1980. He made cameo publicity appearances in independent baseball in 1993 and 2003 to complete his seven decade record.
