Lambert was the linchpin of the Steelers generationally great defense of the 1970's, patrolling the middle of the field with agility and ferocity in Bud Carson's "Double-Rotating Zone". As befits someone of his immense talent, Lambert's accolades are numerous. He won four Super Bowls with the Steelers, went to the Pro Bowl nine consecutive times, was named first-team All-Pro seven times, and was the 1976 Defensive Player of the Year recipient. He was later inducted in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1990 as "the premier linebacker of his era". This white, game worn road jersey bares Lambert's number "58" on front, back, and both shoulders. It has an "84" year tag, along with Pittsburgh Steelers and Sand-Knit size 52 tags on the tail. There are two team repairs, as well as a loose threads and scuffs attesting to its game use. The jersey, which has long sleeves, has been photo-matched to a game on November 19, 1984 against the New Orleans Saints (Getty #872636818). Lambert retired after the '84 season after a severe and recurring case of turf toe. Prior to that year, Lambert had averaged 146 tackles a year during his first 10 seasons in Pittsburgh. All jerseys come directly from the Steelers archive and come with an LOA from the Steelers. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of Steelers Archives items will be donated to the Chuck Noll Foundation for Brain Injury Research.
