This magnificent stick was used in the 1940 regular season and Stanley Cup Finals by Hall of Famer Lynn Patrick of the New York Rangers, and has been in the Patrick family since Lynn retired it following the Cup. The Patricks are unquestionably hockey royalty, as Lynn's father, uncle, and son are all in the Hall of Fame, while his brother Muzz and son Glenn also played in the NHL. Muzz, playing alongside Lynn, was also on the Rangers team that won the Stanley Cup in 1940, and even scored a game-winning goal in overtime of a critical Game 5. Their 1940 triumph would be the Rangers' last Stanley Cup until 1994 - a more than five-decade drought that came to be known as the Curse of 1940. Written on the shaft is "Lester Patrick Special HAND MADE Alex Taylor Co. NEW YORK," which is special because Lester Patrick is Lynn's father. The stick is uncracked with beautiful use, and has original black tape on its butt end, though the tape has been removed from the blade. This is an incredible piece of hockey history.
