Though probably best known for his 17-year tenure as of GM of the Pittsburgh Penguins, this game-worn jersey comes from the playing career of hockey Hall of Famer Craig Patrick. Patrick played eight seasons in the NHL, bouncing from team to team before landing with the Washington Capitals, who he represented while donning this uniform, during the 1976-77 season. In addition to being at the helm of back-to-back Stanley Cup championships with the Penguins in 1991 and 1992, Patrick's name was already etched into history in 1980, when he served as assistant general manager and assistant coach for the "Miracle on Ice" team that defeated the Soviet Union and captured gold at that year's Winter Olympics in Lake Placid. This white, dureen jersey is all-original, with Washington Capitals sewn on the front and "11" on both sleeves and the back, where "PATRICK" is also sewn on a nameplate. A Wilson size 50 tag appears in the collar to along with a metal clip-style fight strap inside. The jersey shows very nice use, with stick marks, pulls, light paint transfers, board burns and a team repair on the back. Additionally, the alternate captain's "A" is removed from the left part of the chest.
