August 18, 1967, was a date that changed baseball forever. That's when Boston Red Sox right fielder Tony Conigliaro was drilled by a Jack Hamilton pitch, shattering his left cheekbone, dislocating his jaw and permanently compromising his eyesight. Here are two ticket stubs to that fateful game at Fenway vs. the Angels, both of which have been affixed to a cardboard backing. Overall condition is VG. The gruesome injury eventually led to Major League Baseball adding ear flaps to each batting helmet. Conigliaro made a triumphant return to the BoSox a year and a half later and managed a few very successful seasons before being forced to retire due to his deteriorating vision.
