Anyone who saw the 1983 George Brett "Pine Tar" game will not soon forget it. This unused ticket is from that July 24, 1983, game featuring Brett's Kansas City Royals at Yankee Stadium. The encapsulated ticket is graded as PSA 2 but the pictures don't lie -this looks more like an 8 as it's challenging to find any blemishes on front or back. Brett's two-run homer in the top of the ninth gave KC the lead, but wily manager Billy Martin challenged that too much pine tar was on the bat. The resulting game-ending out call sent a frenzied Brett from the dugout in a memorable dash. Upon protest, the call was later overturned and the Royals won the completed game by a 5-4 margin. Note that the PSA slab indicates the final score at Yankees 4, Royals 3, which was the final before the ruling was reversed and the game officially completed on August 18.
