First of its kind work created specifically for this auction by Otto Lange, one of the masters of the genre of Photorealism, where movement is forever frozen in time. The piece is a unique perspective of the most prized treasure in the hobby, THE Honus Wagner T206 card. Created not only from multiple million plus dollar examples of the card, but original photographs that were used back in 1909 to originally create the card. It is presented as if Honus Wagner himself posed for the card way back when, like George Washington or Winston Churchill sitting for their "official" portraits. Even the "Pittsburgh" across his chest bends to his physique unlike the card itself which was "painted on" from a flat perspective. This higher level of reality and immaculate detail makes this piece truly special as a work of art. The oil on wood board in "boxed" format makes it even more three dimensional and therein pop art literally "pops out." Measures 24x36". Artist signed "Lange" at bottom right. Lange's award winning works hang in some of the finest galleries, collections and museums throughout the world and typically sell for in the $5,000-10,000 range.
