One of the key performers for one of the top franchises, Franco Harris brought the combination of power and grace that was a crucial ingredient in his team’s four Super Bowl victories. Dating from the 1977 season, this white road jersey is a perfect specimen, the use is fantastic and the jersey is all-original. We can definitively say that Franco wore this jersey on Dec. 16, 1978 as seen in the photomatch to Getty image 78303597. Franco scored the first touchdown in this game, and the Steelers won in Denver, 21-17. Franco’s iconic “32” is in black on the front, back and both shoulders, “HARRIS” is sewn on a plate on the back in yellow on black lettering, and some of the letters have been reinforced with additional yellow stitching which shows through on the inside of the jersey. Absolutely crushed with use, we count no less than 16 team repairs, with five on the “2” on the back alone and additional use in the form of paint transfers, scuffs and even some blood. Medalist Sand-Knit size 46 tag on the front tail is still attached but partially loose from use, and “77” year tag is sewn on beside the size tag. Between his Rookie of the Year start and his Hall of Fame induction, Harris was selected to nine Pro Bowls, was the MVP of Super Bowl IX, and will live in football history as the recipient of the “Immaculate Reception.” Simply put, here is a chance to own one of the very best Steelers jerseys ever offered.
