Offered here is the “white whale” of Pittsburgh Steelers jerseys. While all Steelers jerseys are tough to locate, especially from the Steel Curtain era, this is the first Blount jersey that we can remember seeing. The white road jersey is all-original with the cornerback’s “47” in black on the front, back and both shoulders, and “BLOUNT” sewn on a plate on the back in yellow- on-black. On the front tail is Medalist Sand-Knit size 46 tagging along with Exclusive Pittsburgh Steelers tag and small “78” year tag. It shows nice use with team repairs on the front and left shoulder. This jersey dates from the 1978 season, which saw Pittsburgh roll to a 14-2 regular season record and a victory over the Dallas Cowboys in Super Bowl XIII. So accomplished was Blount in the art of covering receivers that the NFL had changed its rules the previous offseason in an effort to limit his effectiveness, but he still finished his 14-year career with 52 interceptions and was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.
