It is very rare to see Willie Mays home run balls, let alone in the 500+ range in pursuit of 660. This perfect specimen is an Official American League (Giles) ball with fabulous provenance as it comes directly from, and is consigned by, the 12-year old boy (now 62) who caught it in the stands at Atlanta Stadium on July 29, 1966, a 7-6 Giants loss to the Atlanta Braves. After he caught this treasure, the boy’s father had somehow set up a clandestine meeting to put the finishing touch on this historically-important ball and a handwritten Letter of Authenticity tells the tale: "My dad took me to a hotel room and sitting on a bed in his boxer shorts, Willie signed the ball and under the signature, to my surprise, was the number 528 in quotes." The blue ballpoint pen signature is 6/10, the ball has excellent wear and looks just like something that became #528. Simply a perfect specimen, includes JSA LOA.
