Tattersall's Lottery was legendary and evolved from the activities of publican George Adams, at his Tattersall's Hotel in George Street (Sydney, Australia). From 1881, Adams ran a sweepstakes lottery on the major horse races for the amusement of his sporting patrons, taking a percentage off the top for "expenses." This wood betting board folds into two 11x11" halves, all in black save the top which has "Geo. Tuck. Tattersall's Waltham Abbey" on a blue background. It has had some work done as the top half has been broken and repaired, and what appeared to be original names printed into the squares have been painted over, yet all of the above just adds to the character of this vintage piece with a great look.
