Maybe the toughest of all post-1910 baseballs to find, this gem bears the markings of the little-known Federal League, which operated as a "third major league" during the 1914 and 1915 seasons. Utilizing an early-day "free agent" system, the Federal League served as competition to the NL and AL before it was forced to shut down after the 1915 season, prompting a noted federal lawsuit. This ball offers the classic red and green stitching of the era and rates in VG condition due to discoloration, but the ball itself displays much better. The sweet spot notes "Official Federal League" with "Warranted" on panel below. On the panel above the sweet spot is the Victor Sporting Goods label and opposite is a "James Gilmore" facsimile signature as league president.
