From the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, Germany, it is extremely difficult to find an Olympic torch with the flare stub intact where the torch was lit with flame. This was the first year the Olympic torch relay was held, with the flame traveling from Olympia, Greece, through Europe and ultimately arriving at Olympic Stadium in Berlin. Because of the stainless steel shortage during the World War that shortly followed, very few of these torches still remain as all available stainless steel was required to be melted down to create weapons. Manufactured by Krupp, the beautifully crafted torch features an engraving of the cities traveled as well as the five interlocking Olympic rings held in the talons of the German coat of arms. It stands 10.75" (27 cm) tall, with the circular top measuring 6" (15 cm) in diameter. It also comes with a diploma from the torch bearer. Simply an incredible artifact, preserved in outstanding condition.
