The 1997 Marlins were the first second-place team ever to win the World Series, and the team's ace - Cuban defector Livan Hernandez - earned half of the team's wins in that year's Fall Classic vs. the Cleveland Indians. For his efforts, the fifth-year franchise bestowed him with a special ring that comes directly from Livan and with his signed LOA. The Size 10 ring features the old team logo with the fish swimming through the letter "F" surrounded by diamonds and "1997 WORLD CHAMPIONS" encircling the face. The left panel shows his name, number 61 and the team's fifth-anniversary logo. The other shank showcases the World Series trophy, "MARLINS" and "ONE HEARTBEAT." Marked 14 K inside and is engraved: "1997 NLCS & WORLD SERIES MVP." The 14 karat gold ring houses real diamonds and is in NRMT condition but for one nick on the shank, which has been sized down as is evident by a hairline on the back. It comes with the original presentation box with plaque on top that reads "1997 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP RING PRESENTED TO LIVAN HERNANDEZ FLORIDA MARLINS BASEBALL CLUB." Hernandez's younger brother Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez won his first World Series ring the following season with the Yankees and added three more over his career to earn family bragging rights.
