This was the greatest piece of hardware Major League Baseball bestowed upon Livan Hernandez. Made from Lucite, the pyramid-shaped World Series Most Valuable Player trophy is the first one we have ever handled and it is strikingly beautiful, including a 1997 World Series logo suspended inside the award's massive body, as well as an official Series ball displayed inside a four-pronged "clutch" atop the roughly 20-inch-tall trophy. The MLB logo appears three times on the front, including twice on the base. "1997 WORLD SERIES MOST VALUABLE PLAYER" is etched into the Lucite under one MLB logo. The substantial trophy is in EX condition with some heat marks inside the Lucite. It comes directly from Livan and includes an LOA from the journeyman pitcher who wore the jerseys of 10 different big-league teams. His greatest success, though, was clearly in his second season as he was a major force behind the Florida Marlins' first-ever world championship. After having pitched the Marlins past the favored Braves in the NLCS (for which he also won the series MVP award), he won both of his starts with a stingy 0.84 ERA against the Cleveland Indians in the World Series as Florida made history as the first-ever Wild Card to go all the way. In fact, he was a perfect 4-0 in his four postseason starts that magical season. This is an absolutely magnificent piece!
