The first player voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, Ty Cobb signed this Twin Falls Bank & Trust Co. check on July 29, 1948 for the amount of $1,592.79. It's not well-known, but Cobb spent his later years as a businessman in that Idaho town, falling in love with the area after a Salmon fishing trip shortly after his retirement from baseball in 1928. He then built the city’s first soft-drink bottling plant, hiring his son Herschel to run it. The check is in EX condition and the "Georgia Peach's" signature rates a 9 out of 10. Cobb set 90 major league record during his career, and still holds several including the all-time highest batting average of .366.
