Just finding a Joe Cronin game worn uniform could take a lifetime, but finding another of this quality would be virtually impossible. In 1933 Hall of Famer Joe Cronin led the Washington Senators to the World Series as both the everyday shortstop and manager. Cronin's impact upon the game extended beyond the playing field as he would go on to become general manager of the Red Sox and in 1959 was the first former player elected as American League President. This gray, road jersey is very rare and historical. Black "W" embroidered on both both sleeves. Black Spalding tag (slightly torn) in the collar with "J. Cronin" chain stitched in red to the right of the tag. Felt number "4" on the back of the jersey is all original. Two very small tears six inches below the "4" on the back, likely from game use. Sleeves have been shortened and re-hemmed. Matching pants have black Spalding tag in the waist band with "J. Cronin" chain stitched in red to the right of it. Uniform has been authenticated by Mears and given a numerical grade of 9 out of 10. Half of a point has been deducted for the small tears on the back and the other half point deducted for the re-hemmed sleeves.
