Here's a very, very rare jersey once worn by one of the greatest sluggers in the game today. In fact, this could be the only one (road) jersey in existence as Albert Pujols played a mere 21 games with the Potomac Cannons in 2000. It is tagged Rawlings Size 46 on the collar, with a second tag listing ADULT and washing instructions. There is also a Rawlings tag on the front tail, while the front lettering reads CANNONS with the number 21. The number is the only marking on the back. It was obtained from the Potomac team and comes with the original envelope (postmarked Oct. 12, 2000) and copy of the roster page showing Pujols wearing number 21.The Dominican-born first baseman, who made the National League All-Star Team nine straight seasons, was not highly coveted by major league scouts out of high school, but once he signed with the St. Louis Cardinals, rapidly ascended the ladder. One of his brief stops along the way to major league superstardom was with the Cannons of the Carolina League (A ball), though he found himself in the Cards' lineup just a year later. Since having burst onto the scene in 2001, Pujols has compiled a .328 batting average, 445 homers and 1,329 RBI heading into this season - his first as a Los Angeles Angel.
