What a neat sign! Imagine $3.50 for a reserved seat and children
under 16 were only 50-cents! Those were the prices for an NFL game
back in the early 1950s. This colorful stadium sign from San
Francisco’s historic Kezar Stadium is off-white and has a drawing of
an old 49er, guns blazing, in front of a football. Harkening back to
the wild days of the West and San Francisco’s rougher years, the sign
warns visitors that the park prohibits “guns and knives, throwing of
beer bottles… drunken and disorderly fans, etc.” Painted on plywood
measuring 18” x 36” with some wood exposed around edges and mounting
brackets on the top.
