If you are looking to build a set of the tough 1943 Ambrosia cards, this lot of 148/240 is a great place to start. The cards were printed in color on thin paper stock; the simple design featured a borderless portrait. The set is comprised of 12 players from each of 20 amateur teams. The backs are printed with player info and a coupon offer. Although the cards are in off grade condition this is how these Cuban cards are usually found. Nearly all of the cards are in off grade condition, and all but 5% have some type of damage to the verso. The cards are in overall poor to good condition with only a handful slightly nicer. At the time, an album was also available for storing and displaying cards. The cards measure 2" x 2-3/4". Additionally, there are 2 Ansco Cameras & Film cards, which are real photographs, that are roughly 3" by 4" in size and rarely seen. The 2006 SCD checklist only lists players from the Almendares Scorpions team, but at least a dozen players from the Habana Lions have been seen and are so far uncataloged. According to our research 20 cards were printed from each of the two teams. Included, are 2 players from the Scorpions team Mayor VG & Guerra VG-EX. .
