George Gipp ranks among the greatest football players of all time, leading the powerful 1918-1920 Notre Dame teams under the legendary Knute Rockne. No surprise that Ronald Reagan portrayed him in the movies, or that his famous deathbed gift to Rockne and Notre Dame, "when the team is up against it... just tell them to win one for the Gipper" is one of the most memorable lines in all of sports. Gipp's signature is among the toughest of all football autographs, with only a small number known to exist. This signature rates an 8.5 / 10, strongly and boldly inscribed in black fountain pen. The justly famous 6 1/2" x 4 1/2" photograph shows the Gipp completing a punt. The photo has a few wrinkles, and two very small tack holes in the upper corners. There is a half-inch tear on the right side and a one inch tear on the left, neither touching the central image or the signature. This damage could be professionally restored. Also included is a Letter of Authenticity from PSA.
