Two giants of the Blues doing “battle” in concert. Imagine getting to see The Howling Wolf on the same bill as Muddy Waters. Translate it into rock and roll terms and it would be like seeing the Beatles and Rolling Stones together. Although the Wolf began in an acoustic style, he is best known for his loud and boisterous electric blues that first took hold in Memphis after WWII. Muddy Waters made it big in the blues clubs of Chicago but the roots of his music were also from the southern U.S. This concert took place on The Wolf’s turf in Memphis and the battle was certainly a pitched one but we’re guessing that Muddy Waters held his own.
