Long before newspaper photos became computer-scanned and printed, there were typesetters and inkers. Back in the 1950s and 60s, newspapers used engraved wooden mounted print blocks like these to prepare the photographs for printing. The engraved block would be inked and a print would be made. It was a long process but the end results were the classic black and white photos that appeared in every newspaper. This collection of 4 vintage Elvis Presley print blocks were actually used for newspaper photos of the King back in ‘56, ‘64 and ‘65. Also included are vintage news clippings featuring the Presley photos created from the blocks as well as the captions. One block even looks like the image Andy Warhol made famous. The collection includes a rare print block and the newspaper clipping showing Elvis Presley making his screen debut in the 20th Century Fox movie “Love Me Tender,” as well as the print block and newspaper clipping showing Elvis in the movie “Fun in Acapulco.” They are are mounted in photo album pages and show yellow aging. A collection of clean black & white prints which were actually printed from the blocks is also included. Each of these 8 1/2” x 11” sheets is ready for framing. If you have an “inkling” to get an unusually rare collection of Elvis memorabilia, this is it!
