Spin the dial and move your players around the bases! “Home Base Ball Game” , an 1897 game, introduced by McLoughlin Bros., New York. Stupendous multicolor graphic on the box cover depicts a batter and catcher in period costume. The game is self-contained, intended to be played on a miniature field within its reinforced cardboard box. Game action results from spinning the hand on a 3 3/4” wheel and moving counters around the bases, with double plays, balks and extra base hits among the many possible outcomes. Overall dimension is 10 1/2” x 20” x 1”. Full instructions are provided on the inside lid. The cover, action wheel and inner box are in very nice condition. A portion of one edge of the cover is missing, and three corners are separated. There are no counters included; it may have been intended that pennies or buttons were used.
