Roy Campanella was still unknown outside of the Negro Leagues when he accepted this 1946 contract with San Juan of the Puerto Rican League. Note Campy's $75-a-week salary and the "condition" that the contract could be terminated for any reason with 10 days' notice. Talk about a bygone era. Campanella won three Most Valuable Player awards as the Brooklyn Dodgers' catcher, but this remarkable certificate harks back to when the future Hall of Famer was striving to get his shot. Overall EX-MT and signed by Campy in NRMT ink.
