Amazing pair of gold and silver medals are each #1 in the edition for presentation to President Richard M. Nixon. There are two boxed sets of two here (four medals total). The first medals are in their original 7.5x4.5” display box in slipcase reading “John F. Kennedy Center For The Performing Arts Official Dedicatory Medal.” Inside are two lovely medals adorned with striking heads of President Kennedy by sculptor C. Paul Jennewein with the artist’s signed card included. Marked “Medallic Art Co. N.Y.” they are “.999+ Pure Silver” and “14k GF.” Each are 2.5” in diameter, and numbered “1” from the series. The verso is beautifully embossed with the “John F. Kennedy Center For The Opening Arts Dedicated By President Richard M. Nixon September 8, 1971.” The second set of two are exact in every way to the first set, except they are the smaller size with the medals each measuring 1.5” and the box 6x4”. Nixon left these behind that night and they have remained in the collection of the family that inaugurated this worthy project since 1971. Mint.
