The signature from the tycoon who made Sea Biscuit into an American hero is rendered in black ink and is no doubt one of the greatest signatures yet seen from this legendary entrepreneur and modern icon, as it is signed, “To Mr. Fitz [Sea Biscuit’s original trainer] with best wishes, Charles S. Howard.” Ink is still bold, grading “8” out of a possible 10. The piece is also hand numbered, “185/260” and pencil signed by the artist, “F.B.
