The culmination of Seabiscuit's and Red Pollard's legendary careers was their emotional victory at the 1940 Santa Anita Handicap. Both horse and rider heroically came back from devastating injuries, to win one final race and a giant $100,000 purse. Offered is an incredibly rare victory photo, obtained by jockey Red Pollard and sent to his mentor Archie McTaggart. As explained in the description of the Red Pollard "Seabiscuit" saddle, Archie McTaggart helped the young Red Pollard, when he was down and out in Butte, Montana. They maintained a close relationship over the years, and after the 1940 Santa Anita, Red sent Archie the saddle, and this amazing photograph. The photograph measures 11 x 14 inches, and is inscribed in black fountain pen, "Hello Arch, I done it and I'm glad, Red Pollard." The photo is in overall Excellent condition with some creases and a couple of tears, these however do not affect the aesthetic beauty of this amazing piece.
