When it comes to the all-time best MLB home run hitter among switch-hitters, the reigning record-holder is Hall of Famer Mickey Mantle, who blasted 536 round-trippers. Offered is a Mickey Mantle signed and inscribed "546 HR's" baseball. Mantle, who was named after Hall of Fame catcher Mickey Cochrane, was brought up in Commerce, Oklahoma, where Mickey's father was a lead and zinc miner. A semi-pro player himself, Mantle's father, Elvin, nicknamed "Mutt", decided that young Mickey would be a switch-hitter, so Mutt threw to Mickey right-handed, and Mickey batted lefty, and when Mickey's grandfather threw lefty to his grandson, Mickey batted right-handed. Mickey's switch-hitting practice went on constantly, and Mantle signed with the New York Yankees out of high school and played his entire 18-year Major League career with the Yankees. Mantle hit over .300 ten times and was a career .298 hitter. The 20-time All-Star was a 7-time World Champion, a 3-time AL MVP, and the winner of the Triple Crown in 1956. Only Mantle and Eddie Murray (504) have hit more than 500 home runs as a switch-hitter, and Mantle is the only Major Leaguer to have hit at least 150 home runs from each side of the plate.
The offered baseball is an Official American league Ball (Brown). Using a fine tip blue marker, Mantle crafted his famous, beautifully flowing signature on the sweet spot, and below his signature, but still on the sweet spot, Mantle, again using a fine tip marker, added a neatly written, "536 HR'S". T offering comes with a PSA LOA for the Mantle signature and inscription.
