Mickey is renowned for his iconic uniform designation, as "Number 7", and offered is a single-signed Mickey Mantle baseball with Mantle inscribing "N0. 7". However, when Mantle broke into the Major Leagues with the Yankees in 1951, Mickey initially was given "Number 6" to wear, symbolically following in the footsteps of idols Ruth (Number 3), Gehrig (Number 4) and DiMaggio (Number 5). In '51, in the early season, Mantle played right field, with DiMaggio still in center, but Mickey struggled and was sent down to the Yankees' Triple AAA farm team in Kansas City for about six weeks. When Mantle returned to the Major Leagues later that season, he was given "Number 7" and kept that number for his career. The Hall of Fame center fielder was a 7-time World Champion, a 3-time AL MVP, the '56 Triple Crown winner, and a 20-time All-Star.

The offered baseball is an Official American League Ball (Brown). Using a blue, fine tip marker, Mantle used is renowned penmanship to craft his beautiful signature on the sweet spot and add a neatly written "NO. 7". The baseball is in EXCELLENT condition. The offering comes with a PSA grade for the signature.
