Presented is a great 1956 Brooklyn Dodgers dugout photo at Ebbets Field as the aging 'Boys of Summer," after winning the 1955 World Series against the New York Yankees, are back to try to win a second consecutive World Series. Of course, in that '56 World Series, Yankees starter Don Larson threw the Fall Classic's only perfect game, and in Game 7, the Yankees defeated Brooklyn once again. By 1958, the Dodgers were in Los Angeles. But on the eve of the '56 Series, Brooklyn still had a pennant-winning club and hope reigned supreme.

In the offered publicity photo is the Brooklyn starting lineup for Game 1, not in the squad's batting order, left-to-right: Dodgers' Hall of Fame manager Walt Alston, a right-handed first baseman as a player, used his left arm to wave the troops onward; Hall of Fame catcher Roy Campanella, right fielder Carl Furillo, Hall of Fame first baseman Gil Hodges, left fielder Sandy Amoros, Hall of Fame infielder Jackie Robinson, starting at third base, Hall of Fame center fielder Duke Snider, Hall of Fame shortstop Pee Wee Reese, second baseman Jim "Junior" Gilliam, mostly hidden, and pitcher Sal Maglie.

The back of the 8x10" black & white photo has a suggested caption reading, in part, "Dodger preparations for World Series. The Dodgers starting lineup.... 10/2/56." The back also has a New York Times stamp. The photograph is in EXCELLENT condition.
