On June 27, 1960, the Los Angeles Dodgers traveled to Yankee Stadium in New York in the team's first visit to New York and Yankee Stadium since Don Larsen's perfect game for the Yankees in the 1956 World Series. Displayed is a June 27, 1960, ticket stub from this charity game in which Brooklyn-born Sandy Koufax took the win. In 1959, the Yankees visited the Dodgers at the Los Angeles Coliseum before a crowd of 93,103 in a game to raise funds for the care of Roy Campanella, the Dodgers' Hall of Fame catcher who was a quadriplegic as the result of an automobile accident. The Yankees beat the Dodgers 6-2 in that game. That game was the first of a two-year, home-and-home, two-game series with the Yankees. When the Dodgers visited Yankee Stadium on June 27, 1960, for the second game of the fund-raising series, the game drew many Brooklyn fans in a crowd of 53,492, who were nostalgic for their former team, which still had former Brooklyn Dodger stars such as future Hall of Famers Gil Hodges and Duke Snider, and still developing former Brooklyn pitchers, particularly future Hall of Famers Sandy Koufax and Don Drysdale. In this 1960 game, won by the Dodgers 4-3, Sandy Koufax pitched one inning and picked up the win. The winning run was driven in by Gil Hodges, with a triple. The Yankees donated their share of the proceeds to the New York Sandlot Fund, and the Dodgers used their share of the gate to provide more financial assistance for Roy Campanella. Frank Finch, of the Los Angeles Times, wrote that the teams played in front of "...a highly vocal crowd with a heavy Brooklyn accent."

The offered stub reads, in part, "MONDAY NITE JUNE 27, 1960/RAIN CHECK/SANDLOT BENEFIT GAME/Mezzanine Reserved Seat $2.50." The stub measures 2.75x1.5". The offering has been encapsulated and comes with a PSA grade of "GOOD." However, the encapsulated stub was mislabeled by PSA in that PSA labeled the stub as "Dodgers - 4, Cubs -2 May 12/Koufax 8-2/3 IP/4H/11k/W39." The stub is in EXCELLENT condition. The ticket stub marks a special day for Brooklyn's deserted Dodger fans when their team came back to New York, albeit briefly, once more.
