Displayed is a Mickey Mantle signed and inscribed June 21, 1965, Sports Illustrated #v22 #25 magazine. After winning the American League pennant in nine of the previous ten years, and 14 of the previous 16 seasons, the 1965 Yankees seemed to fall apart and slumped to a 77-85 record, and the team finished in 6th place out of the ten AL squads. Mantle also suffered a downturn, as in 122 games, the 33-year-old slugger batted only .255 with 19 home runs and 46 RBIs. The offered Sports Illustrated magazine measures 8.25x11". Mantle, appearing somewhat dejected, is on the cover, carrying his bat. The cover reads, "NEW YORK YANKEES/END OF AN ERA." Mantle was a large part of that 1951-64 Yankees success, as he helped the Bronx Bombers to seven World Series crowns in his career. The magazine article on the Yankees is called, "Decline and Fall of a Dynasty." Mantle finished his career in the 1968 season, with 536 lifetime home runs, still more than any other switch-hitter in history.

Mantle used a blue fiber-tip marker to sign and inscribe the magazine cover. Employing his invariably beautiful handwriting, Mickey signed his name and added "536 HR's." The magazine has been encapsulated, and it comes with a CGC grade of 6.0. The offering also comes with a JSA LOA for the Mantle autograph. The magazine is in EXCELLENT condition.
