Presented is a 1982-83 New Jersey Nets worn road warmup uniform attributed to Jan Van Breda Kolff. Jan is the son of well-known college and pro basketball coach Butch Van Breda Kolff. Jan, a 6'7" small forward, played for five United States professional teams: the ABA's Denver Nuggets (1974-75), ABA's Virginia Squires (1975-76), ABA's Kentucky Colonels (1975-76), the NBA's New York Nets (1976-83). For his professional career in the United States, he averaged 6.2 PPG with 2.9 APG and 4.3 TRB.
The inside, right front tail of the blue jacket has a sewn-on manufacturer's tag that shows size "42." Next to the manufacturing tag is a sewn-on tag showing "82," the year of issue and handwritten number "45", which leads us to believe the jacket was worn after 1982 since nobody wore that number that year. The lower, outside right front tail has a red, white, and blue NBA patch. On the left chest is "Nets" in sewn-on white tackle twill. Six blue snap buttons run down the front. On back is "NEW JERSEY" in white, sewn-on tackle twill. Inside the back of the pants' waistband is a tag reading "82" for year. Adjacent to that is a Rawlings manufacturer's size 32 tag with player number "22" written in black marker by an unknown hand. Kolff wore 22 in from 1981-1983. Both the jacket and pants appear to be free of alterations, and both the pants and jacket show wear. The pants have a Rawlings sewn-on manufacturer's tag in the back waist that shows size "32." Down each side of the pants are ten (10) snap buttons. On the outside end of each pants leg is "NJ" in sewn-on red letters. Although some wear is evident, overall the jacket and pants are in EXCELLENT condition.
